The Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that the NFLCCA has named the organization September’s Chamber of the Month.
Over the last 12 months, KCHCC co-founded the Kern County Latino COVID-19 Task Force. Dedicated to outreach, education and COVID-19 testing/vaccinations, a strong partnership with Kern County Public Health was established, as well as, among numerous community partners, community leaders and health care institutions allowing the organization to bring free PPE to small business and labor workers in Kern County.
The Task Force spearheaded free COVID-19 testing sites, over 100 locations and covid tested over 20,000 residents in Kern County and started vaccination clinics to Kern County’s underserved neighborhoods and community centers.
To date with the help of various providers, the Latino Task Force has vaccinated over 25,000 resident’s making Kern County close to 40% Latino’s fully vaccinated. Kern makes up 54 percent Hispanics. The Latino Task Force provides a free community mental health hotline was created which also allowed Kern County residents to seek assistance in finding vaccination appointments, transportation to appoints and learn about small business relief programs.
KCHCC also received the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce honorable “Chamber of the Year” award in 2014 and 2021.
